Ingredients:
• 6 tablespoon butter
• 10 tablespoon shortening
• 1 1/3 cups firmly packed brown sugar
• 3 eggs
• ¾ teaspoon baking soda
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 3 cups pastry or all-purpose flour
• 12 ounces (about 2 cups) chopped dates
• 1 ¼ cups chopped pecans
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375F.
2. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, and sugar together. It will become light and fluffy.
4. One at a time, add the eggs. Mix well after each addition.
5. In a medium bowl, sift together the baking soda, salt, and flour together.
6. Combine the dry and wet ingredients. Mix well.
7. Fold in the dates and pecans.
8. Place tablespoon size balls of cookie dough on the baking sheet. You want to leave at least an inch between them.
9. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes.
