Mickey Brownies

Disney Inspired Recipe:

Source: family.disney.com

What we will need:

  • 1 1/4 sticks unsalted butter

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 3/4 cups packed brown sugar

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • a pinch of salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Let’s make these beauties.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F degrees.

  2. Grease and flour a 9×13 baking pan.

  3. In a medium bowl, sift and whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla.

  5. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the sugar and mix. Note: the first time I tried to make these I thought the sugar had to be melted. Nope, just add it, mix it and continue on with the recipe. The picture above shows the difference between the two.

  6. Add the dry ingredients to the butter saucepan and mix well. Remove from the heat when well mixed.

  7. Fold the egg mixture into the main mixture.

  8. Pour the batter into your 9×13 baking pan. Smooth out the batter to make sure it cooks evenly. Bake for 25 minutes.

  9. Remove the pan from the oven when you can stick a toothpick in the middle and it comes out dry. Let cool completely on a wire rack.

  10. Use a Mickey-shaped cookie cutter to cut the shapes out.  Mine came out so dry and had I really had to push to get the cutter through them. Like really pushed on the cutters with all my might.

  11. Add sprinkles on top and serve.
