Wreck-it-Ralph Cake

ralphcake

Okay, so we all know that Ralph and Vanellope have the cutest friendship EVER – and this cookie-turned-cake  Disney recipe is the proof of that!

It’s not only incredibly adorable – it’s also DELICIOUS!!! (Seriously, this might be the best cake I’ve ever made!)

I happened to have some heart shaped cake pans at home which I used to make this recipe – but you can also just cut a heart shape into an ordinary round cake, or even assemble a large heart shape out of a square cake and a halved round cake sitting along two adjoining sides!

Anyway – onto the Disney recipe!

Serves: 4-5 servings (this is a recipe for a small, two layered cake. If you’d like to make an average sized cake to feed 8 than you’ll need to double this Disney recipe!)

Ingredients:

  • 1⅓ cups of Plain Flour

  • 1 tsp Baking Powder

  • 2 pinches of Salt

  • 1 cup of Milk

  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence

  • ½ cup Apple Puree

  • ⅓ cup White Sugar

(to decorate:)

  • ½ cup Whipped Cream

  • ½ cup Strawberry Jam

  • 1 cup Frosting (I used store bought for this recipe to get a smoother, ‘glazey’ finish!)

  • Blue food colouring

  • Sprinkles

  • Two large rainbow sour straps

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (approximately 350°F) and line a heart-shaped baking pan with wax paper.

  2. In a medium bowl mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

  3. In a separate, small bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla essence. Set aside.

  4. In a separate, large bowl, mix together the apple puree and the sugar. In alternating batches, combine the flour mixture and the milk mixture to the large bowl until smooth.

  5. Pour half of the mixture into the baking pan and bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden and risen. Repeat this with the remaining mixture.

  6. Once cooled, level the bottom layer of the cake, and line the outside edge with whipped cream and fill the empty space with lightly heated strawberry jam. Place the two sour straps pointing outwards in the heart indent. Place the second layer on top once this has had a minute to settle.

  7. Separate the frosting into two piping bags, mixing one half with food colouring until it reaches a light, bright blue. Using the white frosting line the outside edge of the cake twice – approximately 1 cm from the edge of the cake. Allow this to set for a minute and then fill in the heart shape with the blue icing.

  8. Whilst this is still settling – sprinkle the….sprinkles lightly across the top and bottom sections of the blue icing.

  9. Once this has all set, carefully pipe the words “YOU’RE MY HERO” across the cake in two lines – matching the picture above.

  10. Enjoy! (and take hundred of pictures!!!)

  1. Oh, Sweet Disney, you may be the sweetest gal that I know. Hehe. I like so many of your desserts, partly because I can enjoy them without gaining any weight. Someday maybe I will get to indulge for real, though.
