Hi Disbakers!
How are you today? Hopefully, it’s nice weather where you are because it’s snowing here. Yup, you read that right. Snowing. I am not loving this weather change. My husband is from Alabama and always says he doesn’t understand why Canadians are always so surprised by winter. He says it happens every year, yet everyone is shocked. Maybe we are all just wishing that magically we could wear shorts and flip flops all year round. I know I am.
I miss the days I lived in Orlando. I would post beach photos on social media in the middle of February so my Canadian friends would be jealous. I’m not even ashamed to admit that. If I have to look at all their Caribbean vacation updates, they can see my beach days. It’s the Facebook timeline trade-off. It’s similar too when I have to see the 85 photos of their children sitting in a park, they have to look at 85 photos of my dog dressed up for every holiday I can find a costume for. For the record, I’m not ashamed of that either.
These days I find myself staring out at snow, and they have moved down south. Funny how things change. Honestly, I’m happy for them. I think your own personal happiness can be measured by how much good fortune you wish upon others. We may not mean too, but if we are miserable, we might not be super happy for people who are succeeding. Again, I don’t think we do it on purpose. Yet, if we are super happy about the status of our life, then we tend to be happier for others.
Speaking of people, I want nothing but great things for; The Lau Family. Have you seen their website, social media or YouTube channel? You have great taste if you have, and if you haven’t, get ready to learn a little about them because they are our Disney Community Spotlight today!
There is this weird thing with bloggers and vloggers these days. You either have to be super happy 100% of the time or only talk about sad things. I don’t understand why you can’t fall in the middle. Why can’t you have good days, and not so good days? Why can’t you say you had a shit day for no real reason for it? Why can’t you unironically talk about having a great day because… well just because?
A lot of bloggers feel they have to make their lives dramatic 100% of the time. That’s just not real life. I know my life isn’t like that, and I don’t think I would want it to be either. It sounds exhausting to always be coming up with the next epic thing. For example, I’ve been lucky enough to represent another site at some Disney media events. That sounds fantastic, right? (I think it does and if Disney wants to invite me to more I’d be more than happy to attend) Do you know what I did right before going to those events? Probably laundry, or contemplated why my dog needs to smell every single blade of grass on our walks. Not quite as exciting, but still good moments. I love walking my dog and, as I might not love laundry, I do love not stinking. They say “Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans.” Isn’t that the truth? The Lau Family seems always real with their viewers. Like you are hanging out in their house with them chatting about the Disney.
Something I love about Lau Family Travels is the dynamic between the family. The mom is so bubbly and cheerful. The dad has a dry sense of humor and the son is quickly turning into a YouTube pro. He even does his own videos now. Not to make myself sound incredibly old but the youth these days are so talented with all the computer stuff. I think I used my first computer when I was in jr. high school. Can you believe they didn’t even have the internet back then? Well, I’m sure someone had it, but the everyday person didn’t. Remember when the Angelfire websites were the big thing. I swear everyone had one. Do you remember how fancy and cool we all thought they were? Is that what people in the future will say about WordPress? Sorry back to the Lau family. I get distracted easily.
The Lau Family Travels website is jam-packed with helpful Disney travel information. They have these super helpful quick guides to the parks that are useful if you are a beginner or a pro-Disney Park vacationer. I like to consider myself a seasoned Disney guest but I still learn new things all the time about the parks. These guides are worth the read. They are so clearly laid out, you never know what you are going to learn.
Their videos aren’t just about Disney either, they have all sorts of travel information. That’s something I like about them. I used to pretty much ignore travel videos unless I was going to a specific location. The Lau’s have taught me how much I was missing out. You can learn so much from other travelers. The family has piqued my interest in Nashville, Universal, and outdoor adventures like caves. I never really considered going to Nashville before them. Now I’m curious about it. They have shown me places I wouldn’t have thought about exploring and that’s awesome.
Since they have three distinct personalities, you get three distinct points of view. Which is amazing because sometimes you want the information through rose-colored glasses and sometimes you just want it coming straight at you. They have something for everyone.
Their Instagram is filled with so much family love. You can just tell these three care for each other so much. Sometimes when you watch families YouTube together and they can give off the impression they are just doing it to make one person in the group happy. I don’t feel that with these three. It seems like they genuinely like traveling and making videos together. That’s so refreshing in a sometimes-forced YouTube world.
They just released a Question and Answer video, which is perfect timing for this spotlight. The seventeen-minute video has them answering all sorts of questions. It is really helpful to get to know them. The questions they answer cover a wide range of topics from their favorite water park, favorite snack to what’s it like to vlog as a family. They were really honest about it being fun but also how much work it can be.
They have been blogging for about a year now and are quickly growing in this Disney blogging universe. So why not head over and send them a like or a follow at their social media below? Let’s share the Disney community love everyone.
