Hey, you gorgeous Bakers!
So many food bloggers give off the image they never burn anything or forget an ingredient and everything always turns out amazing. I’m here to say that’s bullshit. Can I say bullshit on here? Oh well, just did.
They want you to believe they have never forgotten about something in the oven because they were stalking their ex on Facebook. Or they never got caught up in RuPaul’s Drag race and forgot to put the vanilla in the batter. I think we both know that’s just not true. I spend most of the time baking worrying about not burning something. Ok, that’s not totally true, I spend most of the time trying to check Instagram because maybe someone put a cute puppy picture up recently.
Tonight I was craving cheesecake so I went to the grocery store and bought the ingredients I needed. Except instead of buying soft farmers cheese, I bought hard marble cheese. I was going to use it anyways but my husband talked me out of it. Probably because he didn’t want grated marble cheese in his cheesecake.
Since I was still craving cheesecake I found another recipe. I, of course, didn’t read all the directions and after making the crust I realized I didn’t have enough cream cheese. Dammit. I looked at two other recipes on here and I didn’t have enough for them either.
I like to think at that point I calmly went to the store to pick up what I needed and my family is now about the eat cheesecake. That is not exactly what happened.
I had a 2-year-olds breakdown in the kitchen, yelled at my husband because he dared to ask me if I wanted him to go get some and decided to screw the cheesecake. I then decided to make tacos and they were delicious.
My point to all this is not that I have the patience of a toddler but to say no baker is perfect and don’t worry that you aren’t either. Everyone is just trying to get from recipe to not burnt.
And if you do burn it, make some tacos and watch some bad reality tv. Trust me, those people aren’t baking anything better than you did.

I have had a lot of recipes come out badly. I either retry it or just move on to something else. 🙂
Usually retrying it will do the trick. 🙂
