Hello beautiful bakers!
Firstly, you guys are awesome. If that’s all I say today it would be enough. You really are.
Secondly, many of you have told me you want more posts about decorating. That could mean cake decorating, cereal treats candy apples .. all sorts of things. I am so excited about this. Decorating and turning food into characters is one of my favorite things to do. I’m so excited about this.
This week we are going to start with a trio of Mickey cereal treats that you can find at numerous Disney’s Animal Kingdom stores. You have probably seen this purple box on the store shelves. I would see them and they always looked so tasty. I always thought it would make an awesome gift to bring home.
First things first, we need to make the base Mickey cereal treat. Since these are premade in a box, I couldn’t find an official recipe. I did find on Disney Parks Blog a recipe they use on the cruise lines. Let’s use that one.
Ingredients:

1/3 cup unsalted butter

1.5 cup mini marshmallows

5.5 ounces Rice Krispy’s cereal
Instructions:

In a large saucepan, melt the butter and mini marshmallows.

In a large bowl, place the Rice Krispy’s cereal.

Fold the melted marshmallow mixture into the cereal treats. If you do this by hand, cover your hands with oil first or you will have a very hard time getting it off later.

Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Spread the mixture over the baking sheet. It’s helpful to place a piece of parchment paper over the mixture and use a rolling pin to even it out. You want the mixture to be 3/4 of an inch. It needs to be thick enough. Don’t go any thinner than that or you will have trouble placing the stick in it.

Place in a freezer until completely cool. Don’t skip this step.

Once cold use a Mickey cutter to cut the shape outs. You can also use a Minnie Cutter if you can’t find your Mickey cutter like happened to me. I swear that thing walked out of my home and never came back.

Stick popsicle sticks in the bottom.
Voila, the basic Mickey Cereal Treat Bar!
