Hey Star Wars bakers!

Happy Star Wars the day! If you are reading this then you are a Disney fan and know today is May the fourth be with your day. The unofficial Star Wars day, and I’m excited.

I only got into Star Wars a few years ago. I have to admit I never knew what people saw in it. My only experience with the franchise was falling asleep through Episode one, but I was sure I hated it. Just like kids do with vegetables. They never want to try them but are positive they are bad.

Well, this was until I married a Star Wars superfan. He opened my eyes to the Star Wars world. Disney had recently purchased Lucas films and was coming out with the new movies. My husband said he wouldn’t let me come to see the new films with him unless I agree to watch all the previous ones before. I complained but once he told me we could watch them in a blanket fort I was game. I freaking love a blanket fort.

I thought this request was silly, but it’s probably because I am a big question asker during movies. You know that friend that won’t shut the beep up during the movie? The one person that everyone is Shhhhhing. Well, that’s me. Hey, I have questions and I forget that may be right in the middle of an action scene might not be the best time to ask people. Maybe I just need to pay more attention. No that can’t be it.

I’m still learning about the movies but I know I love Chewbacca. Who doesn’t love him? He is amazing and looks like he gives the best hugs! Have you met him in the parks? I still haven’t but it’s a must do on my next vacation.

Today we are making two recipes; Chewbacca’s Wookiee Cupcakes and Blue Milk. This blog post will be the cupcakes. I found both these recipes on Disney Family. The website says they take 5 minutes but that’s not true. They don’t take a lifetime but are 100% more than 5 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Chocolate cupcakes (baked from your favorite recipe)

  • White chocolate chips (I used butterscotch)

  • Black gel icing

  • Chocolate frosting

  • White gel icing

Instructions:

  1. Make your favorite box or scratch chocolate cupcakes. Let the cupcakes cool completely before continuing.
  2. Frost the cupcakes with the chocolate frosting. Make sure to create a thick coat of icing.

  3. Pointy-side down, press the chips into the cupcakes for the eyes. The recipe calls for white chocolate chips but I didn’t have any so I used butterscotch chips. Same difference right?

  4. Use the black gel icing to dot the eyes on to the back of the chips.

  5. Use the black gel to create the nose.

  6. Use the black gel to make a few black lines around the face. These will later turn hair.

  7. Use the white gel to make an upside down U shape and this will become the fanged mouth.

  8. Use a toothpick to create the fur like to look as Chewbacca’s hair. The thicker the chocolate icing, the better the hair will look.

Ok, so my Chewbacca’s turned out a little more stunned looking than I expected. Maybe Han Solo stuck his finger in a space socket or something.

I still think they turned out pretty good but I’d love to see how yours looked. Send us a picture to be featured on our social media!

May the fourth be with you, everyone!

  1. I was not a Star Wars fan until my husband got my son hooked and then I finally caved and watched. Now Chewbacca is one of my favorite characters.

    1. I was the same way. I never grew up watching them. My husband showed me the Star Wars way and now I’m a fan 🙂
